本書根據(jù)《九年義務(wù)教育初中英語課程標(biāo)準(zhǔn)》四級(jí)的要求，以英國語文、美國語文和加拿大語文的材料為主，輔以其他經(jīng)典閱讀材料和經(jīng)過改編的時(shí)新英語素材，作為初中生課外英語讀物和輔助英語教材，幫助學(xué)生達(dá)到課標(biāo)中四級(jí)的能力要求。四級(jí)?下的選材以記敘文、議論文為主。

毛筠,，北京市第一0一中學(xué)中學(xué)高級(jí)教師。北京市學(xué)科帶頭人。 曾獲北京市“紫禁杯”優(yōu)秀班主任稱號(hào)。 2011年9月，被評(píng)為“第四屆全國中小學(xué)優(yōu)秀外語教師”；2011年11月，被聘任為中國教育學(xué)會(huì)外語教學(xué)專業(yè)委員會(huì)“教學(xué)指導(dǎo)與教師教育委員會(huì)”委員。多篇論文發(fā)表并獲全國、市級(jí)一等獎(jiǎng)。主編十多部教輔材料。
