《英國通俗小說菁華（20世紀下半期卷）（英文）》約300萬字，共分三卷，《英國通俗小說菁華（20世紀下半期卷）（英文）》為20世紀下半期卷，匯集了該時期膾炙人口的英國通俗小說精華36篇，涉及新歷史浪漫小說、超自然恐怖小說、新科學推測小說、間諜小說、色情小說、新魔法幻想小說、新女性小說、魔法恐怖小說、黃金偵探小說、英雄幻想小說、歷史言情小說、硬科學小說等12個主要通俗小說類型和36個重要作家。在編寫體例上，突出實用性和系統(tǒng)性，每一所選章節(jié)之前均有類型介紹和作家介紹，正文則依據(jù)難易程度，加有數(shù)量不等的注釋，以幫助讀者理解。書末附有參考書目，供進一步學習、研究之用。
黃祿善，上海大學外國語學院英語系教授、外國通俗文學研究中心主任，上海翻譯家協(xié)會理事，上海通俗文藝研究會理事，上海作家協(xié)會會員。出版有《美國通俗小說史》、《英美通俗小說概述》等兩部專著；發(fā)表有《革命、焦慮和哥特式表現(xiàn)》、《哥特式小說：概念與泛化》等論文；譯有《死人的殿堂》、《美國的悲劇》、《合伙人》、《鴿房女尸案》、《綠色貝雷帽》、《墓掘》、《生死仇敵》、《荒島劍鳴》等十部美國長篇小說，其中《荒島劍鳴》獲江西省翻譯協(xié)會首屆翻譯大賽優(yōu)秀作品三等獎，《墓掘》獲《譯林》優(yōu)秀長篇小說二等獎，《綠色貝雷帽》獲《譯林》優(yōu)秀長篇小說三等獎。另主編有《世界文學名著典藏》、《西方靈異小說》、《西方高科技驚險小說》、《欲望人》等八套外國文學叢書。
