本教材以詩歌、戲劇、小說、散文的體裁排列，選取可讀性強(qiáng)、具有典范性膾炙人口的經(jīng)典作品，幫助學(xué)生接觸原著，拓寬視野，使得學(xué)生在持續(xù)學(xué)習(xí)、運用英文的基礎(chǔ)上，提高文學(xué)鑒賞水平，能運用英文為學(xué)科服務(wù)。本教材主要選入英美經(jīng)典詩歌華茲華斯、拜倫、雪萊、惠特曼等詩人16家25首；節(jié)選《哈姆雷特》《榆樹下的欲望》《皮革馬里翁》等8個片段；選入小說《名利場》《呼嘯山莊》《苔絲》《愛情是個謬誤》等15篇，散文15篇，附錄部分節(jié)選了可讀性強(qiáng)的演講，最后為提高趣味性、促進(jìn)中外文化交流，還節(jié)選了一些中國名著的名家名譯。適用中文系本科生和英美文學(xué)愛好者閱讀使用。
田兆耀，男，1972年生，文學(xué)博上，東南大學(xué)副教授，碩士研究生導(dǎo)師，江蘇作家協(xié)會會員，江蘇傳媒藝術(shù)研究會理書，中國高校影視學(xué)會會員。主要從事西方文學(xué)、西方文藝刪論、戲劇影視新媒體文學(xué)等方面的教學(xué)與研究工作。在《中國大學(xué)教學(xué)》《江蘇社會科學(xué)》等雜志發(fā)表學(xué)術(shù)淪文50余篇，出版《電影美學(xué)與文化學(xué)》等專著，主持或參加“當(dāng)代歐美電影療法研究(14YJA760031)”等多項科研項目。
