The most obvious advantage of taking a long holiday is that you will have more time to appreciate your visits. You will definitely get to see a lot more than if you were only going on a day-trip. On a short trip, you might be rushed, while on a long trip you get plenty of time to relax and soak in (= think about) everything you see and learn. However, as with anything, benefits do not come without consequences. A longer vacation will definitely cost a lot more money.
