《體育英語閱讀》在編寫的過程中充分研究國內(nèi)外的英語閱讀教材的編寫原則與特點，注重思想性、人文性和科學(xué)性，強(qiáng)化語言能力，內(nèi)容包括運動項目的歷史介紹、國際體育組織的發(fā)展、明星運動員風(fēng)采、競賽賽程，還有運動損傷、體育服務(wù)、場館建設(shè)等問題，在打好學(xué)生英語語言基礎(chǔ)的同時，更側(cè)重培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的應(yīng)用語言能力，在培養(yǎng)學(xué)生閱讀能力的同時，加強(qiáng)聽、說、寫、譯等各項語言技能的綜合訓(xùn)練，尤其注重語言的可操作性和知識技能的拓展，即實用表達(dá)能力的訓(xùn)練與培養(yǎng)，更注重這些技能在各種體育活動和比賽中使用英語進(jìn)行交際的能力。
